| Our Studio We are an intimate enterprise located in the Ironbound district of Newark, NJ. Since its inception in 1995 our studio thrives on giving clients personal attention, superior quality and artistry. Alfonse and his partner of ten years, Rowena, operate this empire of two. Both with backgrounds in the arts, this dynamic duo bring all of who they are to their work. Our spacious loft of 2,500 square feet and epic ceilings is fully equipped for in-house shoots. Us Alfonse Pagano's background has its roots in fine art. A recipient of The New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, his mixed media and oil works were exhibited at the Carnegie Mellon Museum of Art and Laguna Gloria Museum of Art as well as numerous galleries throughout the country. After a distinguished career as a painter, he turned to photography as an art form. Following an inspired idea, he embarked on a project that took him around the world. The result was a collaborative compilation of images and interviews of people from all walks of life expounding personal philosophies behind their dreadlocks. In 1994, the photo-documentary DREADS was published by Artisan/Workman. Currently in its seventh printing, it has earned both national and international acclaim, with exhibits at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, University of Maryland, Paterson Museum, Stevens Institute and at the WBGO Gallery. Rowena Modesto (Studio Director) This decade long collaboration works because of a shared sense of aesthetics and strong work ethics. Ro’s background originates from the performing arts. A dancer for thirty years and a yoga practitioner for the past thirteen, her understanding and appreciation for movement, shows in all her work whether it’s in combining ideas for a shoot, making images flow in an album or simply putting someone at ease in front of the camera it's all just part of the amazing grace she brings to complement this successful working relationship.
